Photography Workshop: Native Flowers as Compositional Elements

Photography Workshop
Native Flowers as Compositional Elements

Led by Spencer Dykstra

DETAILS AND REGISTRATION

California is blessed with an incredible diversity of natural landscapes and unique native flora. Join Spencer Dykstra Photography to learn how to use these natural features to create one of a kind photographs. The camera is only a tool; the real trick is to use what can be seen and compose from there. This class will go over basic camera settings for different situations, but the emphasis will be on using the natural scene to create interesting and unique compositions.

Whether one would like to learn how to create magnificent landscape images, or up-close compositions of wildflowers, the techniques offered will apply. This field-based workshop will be held in the beautiful and varied habitats in the Butte Meadows area. Students will be able to ask questions and receive individual instruction based on their level of experience and camera set-up. Novice to experienced photographers with any digital camera (even a phone camera!) are welcome and will benefit from the individual instruction.

Spencer Dykstra, based in Chico, specializes in Northern California nature photography with an emphasis on native flora. He has been published in local, state, and national magazines, such as Fremontia, California Northern, and Competitor. He has won numerous awards both in HUB Camera Club as well as consecutive years in the CSUC Herbarium Annual Photo Contest. His work can be found at: www.spencerdykstraphotography.zenfolio.com.
