Andrew Conlin will present his discovery while mapping soils west of Lake Almanor and encountering interesting features and soil patterns in the field that did not align with current drainage patterns. Investigation of these features and patterns revealed an extinct lake that was likely more than 200 feet deeper than previously speculated as well as features formed by the rapid drainage of this lake.

Andrew Conlin has worked as a Soil Scientist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service for over 25 years. He co-authored the Soil Survey of Butte County and has also completed a Soil Survey of Lassen Volcanic National Park.
