CALIFORNIA NATIVE PLANT PHOTO CONTEST

What to Enter
Your favorite photo of California native plants. Any format (e.g., macro, landscape, artistic) is acceptable if California native plants are the subject of the photo. Photos can be from previous years. Photos must be your own work. One entry per person.
Prizes
One grand prize winner will win an individual Friends of the Chico State Herbarium annual membership and one copy each of Vern Oswald’s Selected Plants of Northern California and Adjacent Nevada, 2nd edition, and Wildflowers of Table Mountain, a Naturalist's Guide.
Two honorable mention prize winners will receive an individual Friends of the Chico State Herbarium annual membership and a Friends of the Chico State Herbarium t-shirt.

Contest Rules
ELIGIBILITY
By submitting a photo for Friends of the Chico State Herbarium California Native Plant Photo Contest (“Photo Contest”), you declare that you’ve read these rules and agree to the terms of this contest. The Friends of the Chico State Herbarium reserve the right to reject any entry at their own discretion.
ENTRY PERIOD
The Photo Contest begins at 12:00am on March 1, 2021, and ends at 11:59pm on April 30, 2021, Pacific Time. Entries submitted before or after the entry period will not be eligible.
WHAT TO ENTER
Images to the Photo Contest must feature California native plants. Any format (e.g., macro, landscape, artistic) is acceptable if California native plants are the subject of the photo. Photos can be from previous years, but cannot include photos previously submitted to a Friends of the Chico State Herbarium photo contest. To ensure functionality on our submission platform, please submit files no larger than 10 MB at the time of entry.
HOW TO ENTER
All images must be submitted though the Photo Contest submission webpage. You can select an image directly from your computer or your mobile device’s photo library. Each participant may enter one photograph.
JUDGING
Judging will be conducted by Friends of the Chico State Herbarium board members. Submissions will be judged on originality, composition, overall impact, artistic merit, and subject matter relevance to California native plants. Photo Contest winners will be announced by May 31, 2021.
PRIZES
The Friends of the Chico State Herbarium will award the following prizes:
All award winners will receive mention in the Friends of the Chico State Herbarium newsletter, the Friends of the Chico State Herbarium Annual Meeting, and on social media.
One (1) overall grand prize winner will receive: a free individual, annual Friends of the Chico State Herbarium membership and one (1) copy each of Vern Oswald’s Selected Plants of Northern California and Adjacent Nevada, 2nd edition, and Wildflowers of Table Mountain, a Naturalist's Guide.

Your photographs help the Friends of the Chico State Herbarium promote botanical education and outreach. Thank you for your support of our mission through your entry! Copyright to images remains with the photographer. Entry to the competition allows the Friends of the Chico State Herbarium to use submitted images in all media, including social media, online and print, in relation to the contest, and all promotional and educational activities for and under the auspices of the Friends of the Chico State Herbarium, without any remuneration being due.
PRIVACY
The information you provide when you enter is provided to The Friends of the Chico State Herbarium. When you enter, you will be added to the Friends of the Chico State Herbarium e-mail list. This includes special event invitations, digital messages, and a biannual e-newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time.
