The Friends of the Ahart Herbarium (FOAH) is celebrating its 30th year of sustaining the Ahart Herbarium at Chico State! Established in 1995 as the Friends of the Herbarium, we have been instrumental in promoting plant knowledge, conducting outreach, and preserving this invaluable plant library.
Your dedication is helping to build an endowment to secure the Herbarium's future. Our collection of almost 130,000 specimens, continues to serve scientists, students, and plant enthusiasts worldwide. Check out this link describing some of what goes on in the Ahart Herbarium (Ashley Gebb, November 3, 2022, in Chico State Today).

In celebration our accomplishments, we invite you to the no-cost FOAH 30th Anniversary Phytoblitz and Picnic at the Vina Plains Preserve. This event will bring together experts and plant enthusiasts to "identify, tally, and enjoy" plants in these vernal pool landscapes. Phytoblitz FOAH member participants will receive FOAH bottle slings by ChicoBag, followed by a picnic at DeGarmo Park. Spread the word to any members I may have missed!
If you haven't already, we would love for you to renew your membership with the Friends of the Ahart Herbarium. Membership benefits include reduced workshop registration fees and a biannual newsletter, and don’t forget to check out our monthly "All Things Botanically Related" Zoom presentations.
Additionally, we encourage you to consider making an extra contribution to our endowment. Your generosity will help us achieve our goal of supporting a permanent director/curator faculty position, ensuring that the Ahart Herbarium continues to serve as a vital plant reference library for future generations.
Your support has been, and continues to be, the cornerstone of our success. Together, we can preserve this invaluable resource and foster a deeper appreciation for the botanical treasures of our region and beyond.
