Friends of the Chico State Herbarium present
Cultivating Place: Leveraging Our Human
Impulse to Garden in the Service of Plants
By Jennifer Jewell
Creator and host of the national award‐winning public radio program and podcast, Cultivating Place: Conversations on Natural History and the Human Impulse to Garden.
Born in Colorado and brought up gardening at high-altitude, after receiving a bachelor of liberal arts degree from Harvard University, Jennifer worked as an arts and literature editor and writer. In 1997, she combined her two passions and began garden writing. Since 2007, she has lived, gardened and produced garden-based radio for North State Public Radio in Chico, CA. Every year, she falls ever more deeply in awe of our native plants and native plant communities and ecosystems. Jewell’s writing has been featured in Gardens Illustrated, House & Garden, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, Natural Home and Old House Journal.
