Join us as we combine our love of art and plants in this workshop suitable for all artistic abilities. Brianna will lead us first in making close observations of our chosen specimens, identifying their colors, shapes, and details. Then, deciding on a composition, participants can choose the degree in which they further develop their piece. Participants have the option to do detailed drawings of their specimens on paper using pencil techniques and/or colored versions using a variety of media. Participants are encouraged to bring their own small plants, fruits, or clippings for inspiration (some plant materials may be provided).

To enjoy the full range of artistic possibilities, please bring note-taking paper, a 2B or a regular no. 2 pencil, a tortillon (blending stub), a good eraser (gray kneaded eraser is best), and mixed-media or water-media paper. If you are interested in adding color to your drawing, please also bring colored pencils, markers, or watercolor paints, etc. A limited supply of pencils and coloring media will be available for loan during the workshop.

Brianna Williams graduated in Spring 2026 with a BFA in studio art with an emphasis in painting and a BA in art education from California State University, Chico.  Finding connection with community and nature is important to Brianna and her work as an artist.  Growing up on the California coast, she first fell in love with nature in the tide pools of Monterey Bay.  She enjoys working with a variety of media and often explores nature and biographical themes in her art and finding commonalities between nature and humanity on broad and personal levels.  Brianna currently resides in a small town in the Sierra Nevada foothills where she enjoys exploring and finding inspiration for her art among conifers and oaks.
