Details and Registration
Using graphite, draw fall seeds, pods, or leaves. Botanical Illustrator, Joan Keesey, will lead this one day workshop which will concentrate on accurate botanical drawing and graphite techniques. Bring current work or start something new. Joan will provide plant materials, but if there is a specific subject you would like to tackle, please bring it along.
Joan's interest in botanical illustration began in the sixth grade when she had a wonderful teacher who taught her class to watercolor pansies and roses with great success. Vacations in the Sierra Nevada inspired her to illustrate California native plants. She has had two solo exhibitions at the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers & Native Plants, and in 2015 she won first place in a California Native Plant Society Exhibition. Her work has been included in Botanical Art exhibitions at Filoli in Woodside, CA and in American Society of Botanical Art International Exhibitions in NY.
Registration for the workshop is $40 ($30 for students and members of Friends of the Herbarium). Please register in advance. Class size is limited to 16 participants and will be cancelled without a minimum of 5. Older children are welcome to register. For more information about the workshop please contact Joan Keesey at keeseyl@verizon.net.
